Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) is a common condition, and one of the most frequent causes of indigestion and heartburn. Dyspepsia affects 40 % of the adult UK population of whom half will have symptoms of GORD. However, only 1 in 10 will visit their GP. Having access to a specialised unit is again very useful from the point of having validated tests, followed by a confirmed diagnosis and access to various treatment approaches.
